This water might kill you
Think the water in D.C. is just fine? Think again.
A recent Associated Press investigation found that D.C. tap water is contaminated with six pharmaceuticals (or, if you prefer, drugs) that include ibuprofen and something called monensin, which apparently is an antibiotic typically given to cattle. Also, just for good measure, there's a dash of caffeine in our drinking water, too.
So yeah. I know bottled water is bad for the environment, but if it comes down to the environment versus my health, I'm sorry, but the environment loses.

Might I suggest buying your water in gallon jugs and then filling up a reusable bottle for hauling it around? Be sure to recycle, yo.
This has been a public service announcement.

A possible option. But when you come to visit, maybe you can show me where I could store a gallon jug in my tiny apartment. Sigh.

My 'rents have a system that does water purifying in the house. Looks like a one of the standign water coolers, but you refill the jugs yourself. I don't know how well they'd filter the anti-hangover cocktail you seem to have going in your tap water, but it might help...

We keep jugs for our fish tank (distilled water) under our kitchen sink, which works well. With apartments our size, necessity is the mother of invention.
I always thought that was a stupid saying.

We keep six gallon jugs of water in our place on shelves in our kitchen. We cook with it and drink a lot of coffee and tea (ok, I do), so it's worth it. Oh, the cat drinks it too. Our city water does bad things to her digestion. I haven't really trusted our water since the flood anyhow, so it's worth the storage space to us.
