Super Smackdown: Lightning Round 1
Today on Super Smackdown, the daily showdown between two pop culture figures, we offer something different.
Today's battle, unlike the others conducted this week, has no impact on the overall contest and is being done simply for fun. So with that in mind, consider who might win in what is certain to be an amazing fight between...
The Tick vs. Invader Zim
One enters battle crying, "Spooooon!" The other seeks the Earth's dooooom! Will the escaped patient of a mental institution trounce the diminutive but well-equipped alien invader? You be the judge! Post your answer (and rationale) in the comments.
And don't forget to vote in this week's marquee battles: Spider-Man vs. Optimus Prime, Luke Skywalker vs. Harry Potter, Nightcrawler vs. The Flash, and Indiana Jones vs. Malcolm Reynolds. Voting for these fights concludes March 15.

Well, as long as Zim doesn't have GIR to help him out, and Arthur is on a date or something, this should be pretty one sided. Now, I will admit, I have not seen much in the way of Zim (a few episodes here and there), but I do know the Tick fairly well. And I do know that it's a royal pain to hurt the Tick.
So, Zim (maybe already in awe a bit at the Tick's height), will open up with potent weapons. Which will do nothing. The Tick, ignoring most of these, will walk over and ask why the young man isn't in school. Zim will probably withdraw, reconsidering his strategy. Over the next week or so, Zim will attack the Tick off and on, desperatly looking for some way to take down the Blue Titan of Justice. Naturally, he'll fail. (I mean, look at how short he is...)
Eventually someone, like Arthur or American Maid, will clue the Tick in that this Zim kid is up to no good. The Tick will go to his home, destroy it on accident, while Zim is desperatly trying to talk him down. Eventually, the Tick will leave the smoking ruins of Zim's Earth headquarters, Justice served, and return to his normal duties in, The City.
Zim will include his encounter with the Tick in his report to the Tallest, and continue his plans after getting his house rebuilt before any one takes too much notice (except for that one kid who's on to him, but that's ok, cause no one will believe him anyway).

It's scary how much thought you put into this.
I say Zim. Technology > Brawn.

I do not know this Invader Zim.
The Tick is Mighty Blue
Justice incarnate,
and nigh invulnerable.
Based on these two facts,
I give the trophy to The Tick.
** SPOOOOOON !! **
This opinion is only valid when considering the animated Tick. If it's Patrick Warburton in a blue suit, I say Zim all the way.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know alot about Zim. It seems to me though that it's one of those kind of shows in which everything that possibly can go wrong for him does, which keeps him from finally achieving his ultimate goal.
Based on that, and knowing that The Tick seems to have nothing but good luck just makes me believe that the Big Blue Bug of Justice walks away from this with ease.

I really want Zim to win this one, but I don't think he has it in him. But if we take out the sidekicks, without GIR to randomly screw something up Zim might actually be able to follow through on some gigantic anti blue bomb specifically made to destroy the Tick.
I say Zim.
