Where to shop for dresses for a wedding?

I'm experiencing a bit of frustration today as I begin an initial search for a dress to wear to a wedding this summer...

I've made some initial passes at the web site of Ann Taylor Loft, New York & Company, Kohl's, The Gap, Nordtroms, etc. and have come to the conclusion that if I want a decent, grown-up, wedding-appropriate, solid-colored-but-not-black-or-brown dress, I'm going to have to spend $150 or more. It seems the fashionable dresses now are either very expensive, solid black, or have patterns - and Rob, my shopping buddy who I trust completely, has consistenly slapped my hand away from anything patterened because of my light skin tone - it's too overwhelming.

Anyone know where I can find a nice, solid-colored dress for a reasonable price these days? Luckily I have two months to find something, but I hate leaving this stuff to the last minute.

Sometimes it's best not to look in conventional places. I've started sewing a summer dress for myself because none of the fashions out there now look good on me. (They all have plunging necklines and big fluffy spaces for boobs I don't have.)

I bought a salwar lengha in Little India for $60. Type in "salwar lengha" in Ebay and you'll see what they look like.

I have a very, very sexy black leather dress that actually flatters my figure, without drawing attention to the fact that I have no boobs. I got it at some rich woman's garage sale for $70.

Go to www.bananarepublic.com and click on women's clothes. Click on dresses. Click on "going out." Check out the light blue dress. I'll let you know if I spot anything else.

Also, I just bought a beautiful dress from Arden B. I got it at a thrift store, but check out their website.

Personally, I only buy black dresses. But I'm a brunette. Good luck!

Don't get me wrong, I look awesome in black. But for a summer wedding in the afternoon? Not so good.

Ah, clothes shopping. I usually buy the first thing I try on, so's to end the torture. But I'm going to put in my opinion anyway...

Last summer my friend Julia had all of her bridesmaids get the "beach dress" from jcrew. The were pretty universally flattering (strapless or halter), and usually a couple of colors are on the sale section of their website.

If that doesn't appeal, I second the rich person's garage sale suggestion.

    Hi everyone here,

I have started a new shopping portal - www.topestore.com where I have made my all endeavors to keep the prices highly competitive & a stores directory namely www.safeshoppe.com. I would thank the community here for their suggestion/advices. Please do not consider this a spam.
