Behaving like children...

It was a delicious weekend.

Josh and I spent most of the day Saturday making reservations for our long-awaited Disney World vacation this fall.

Then we built a fort in the living room.

When I told one of my co-workers we were planning to build a fort over the weekend, he laughed and said, "You guys kill me!" But I think fort-building, while quirky, is something every couple needs to do once in awhile. It's good to go back to those good childhood memories and build something together. We built a really cool fort considering our space and structural limitations - we even incorporated the TV and watched some MST3K in the fort last night. It was fun, even if it was short-lived.

But back to Disney...we're both totally psyched for Disney World. We've been talking about going there together since before we started dating...8 YEARS AGO. So the fact this trip is finally coming to fruition is very exciting. I've never been -- Josh has been twice, the last time being 15 years ago. He can't wait to show me the Haunted Mansion, and I can't wait to dine and shop at all the countries of Epcot. We've got 7 days and 6 nights to enjoy the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Typhoon Lagoon, Pleasure Island, and whatever else Disney has to offer.

So, Disney vets - got any tips? What should we be sure to check out when we're there? Post your thoughts in the comments.

Skip the countries of Epcot. I admit it's been 20 years since I've been to Disney World ("Captain EO" was still playing then), but I doubt it's changed much. It was basically tacky stuff you could buy at any mall. You live in DC, so I think you could get better stuff just walking dowtown. Also, there are much cooler places there that didn't exist when I went.

I loved the food at Epcot the best, Annie! It's worth spending a day there, but no more. They usually have a fireworks show at Epcot, too, and it's fabulous. Magic Kingdom is a must, of course. My favorite part is just the pretty Cinderella castle. But, the Space Mountain rollercoaster is pretty sweet, too! I highly recommend you check out Animal Kingdom--they have an absolutely amazing Lion King show on stilts and a great safari ride. My family never went to the Animal Kingdom when we went, but when I was there my senior year in h.s., we got to go there, and I regretted that my fam hadn't chosen to check it out when we were there previously! The Beauty and the Beast show at MGM is also a must-see. Tower of Terror made me want to throw up, but Rockin' Rollercoaster is a BLAST! I thought Typhoon Lagoon was an absolute waste of time. I've been to better water parks in Minnesota. I love Disney World because it is truly the only place I can let loose and be a child at heart. It's cliche- but it is such a magical place. :)
So...can't wait to meet up with you again Washington this summer. Stay sane with all the planning for the Sowing Seeds Conference. Peace!

My trip to Disney World was a long, long time ago. I remember being bored by Epcot, but I don't think I would now (a lot calmer). Typhon Lagoon was really cool, I remember that, as was the Magic Kingdom. My parents went to Pleasure Island, and they said it was neat. Wish I remembered more of it, but it was a damn long time ago...
